2026 New England Journalism Student Scholarships

The Journalism Education Foundation of New England will award several scholarships to high school seniors and college students who plan to pursue a career in journalism. This program encourages and supports those who will staff and lead our news organizations in the next generation.

Administered by the New England Newspaper & Press Association, this annual program supports up to 10 high-potential students who are committed to pursuing a career in journalism or a related field. The program also includes the prestigious MacGregor Fiske Award, presented each year to an exceptional student journalist who demonstrates great promise in the profession. Eligible applicants include high school seniors and undergraduate students who are residents of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

The deadline for applications is Friday, March 27, 2026.

2026 Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference

High school juniors interested in summer journalism and multimedia storytelling programs should apply to the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference scheduled for June 21-26. It covers all costs and provides a $1,000 college scholarship to all attendees.
