Civic Documenters

When fewer reporters cover local government, our communities lose visibility into the decisions that shape our schools, budgets, and neighborhoods. The nonpartisan Civic Documenters program empowers New Hampshire residents to help close that gap and ensure transparency, accountability, and a more informed public.

The next cohort is scheduled to begin in January of 2027. Details to come.

Documenters attend a six-week training program hosted by the Loeb School and taught by journalist Paul Cuno-Booth. Once trained, they attend municipal, school board, and other public meetings and produce detailed, factual notes and summaries for participating news outlets.

Civic Documenters is a partnership of the Loeb School, the Granite State News Collaborative, and the New England First Amendment Coalition.

Trainings

The Loeb School also offers fee-based private training opportunities for businesses and nonprofits on topics such as marketing, community relations, internal communications, public speaking, crisis communications, and the First Amendment. We coordinate the topic, instructor, training materials, and instruction design.
